Good bike for the price, but needs some work
The bike is good for the money. It’s quite a bit better than the cheap kids bikes you can get from the large retail chains.
However, as many people have already addressed, the shifter is just too hard for any kid to realistically operate. The good news is that Diamondback seems to be aware of the issue. You can just call them at 1-800-222-5527. They will send you the replacement parts. The guy I talked to was Jason, and he was very nice and professional.
Update: I have received the replacement shifter from Diamondback. The one they sent to me was an Sram MRX Comp Twister Mountain Bike Shifter – Rear (6 Speed), and here is the link. http://www.amazon.com/SRAM-Bicycle-Twist-Shifter-6-Speed/dp/B0017YRQKA/. It’s not very expensive, so if you don’t want to go through the hustle of calling them, just order from Amazon. I will update how it performs once I install it.
nice bike for my 10 year old
Nice bike my daughter loves it. Only complaints are no kick stand and she can’t shift it into 1st because it is too hard. We are hoping it will loosen up over time.
Overall pretty decent bike for the money. A little hard to shift until things loosen up. Front shock is not really a suspension fork, I couldn’t move it with all my 180lbs but it makes no difference to my daugther. Pretty good quality when compared to other similar priced bikes. Paid $139 and it’s worth that, don’t pay retail and you’ll be happy.
Good bike, be sure to tighten everything!!
I was a little skeptical after reading the other reviews, but my daughter loves this bike! Had the same issue with the gear shift but it work flawlessly after a few adjustments to the gears.
Just as described.
The bike was delivered partly assembled, so putting it together was easy. The brakes and the gears work fine. We have not had a chance to take in in rough terrain to see how well the front shocks work. Overall it feels like a good bike and my girl loves it.
The reason for giving it 4 stars is that the instructions which came with the bike are awful and some parts have words all together “likethis”.
